Upload Demo Content

This final step will show you how to import content into your website using Envato Elements plugin.

Step 1 - Register your domain & hosting

To get started, you will need to register a domain name and hosting. Your domain name will most likely represent your brand name or the industry you serve.

Depending on the name you choose, the most common being “.com”, the cost can differ.

Shared Hosting

A shared hosting plan is a great choice if you are just getting started. With its free WordPress installation, Siteground certainly provides affordable pricing plans with an excellent support team, fast performance and extra security.

Their StartUp WordPress hosting plans are ideal if you want to build a small business website. Besides, they are also one of the highly recommended hosting companies by WordPress!

Step 2 - Install WordPress

To get started with WordPress, you will need to install it on your hosting server (the one you registered in Step 1). At the end of this step, you will have a fresh installation of WordPress on to your hosting account.

After you register with SiteGround, you will be prompted to install an application.

In this case, we would be installing WordPress. Alternatively, you could install WordPress using your cPanel admin area in Siteground.

Look for the WordPress icon in the “Auto-Installers” section and follow the prompts. It’s that simple!

Once the installation is complete, you will use your login credentials to gain access to the back-end of your website with the WordPress dashboard.

Here, you will be able to install the themes and plugins that you will need to build your website.

Note: As default, you will have the TwentySeventeen theme installed.

Note: WordPress installation may take up to 1 business day.

For the purpose of this tutorial and to simplify things, we will be using the default theme to continue designing our single-page website.

You could alternatively use a theme such as Astra to import fully-fledged demo sites directly from the theme.

Step 3 - Install Elementor

To give your website better styling and functionality, we will be using the Elementor Page-Builder. Since we are using the free version of Elementor for this tutorial, you can download the plugins directly from the WordPress dashboard.

Navigate to Plugins > Add New and search for “Elementor”, click Install and Activate. Alternatively, you can download the plugin from the official Elementor website.

Once installed, you will see the Elementor Setup Guide which will take you through to the basic setup required to work with Elementor.

Step 4 - Upload Demo Content

Now that we have the backbone of the website installed, this final step would be to import content to your website that suit your requirements. Backed by ThemeForest, this plugin provides an extensive collection of templates for every niche. Instead of designing from scratch, this plugin lets you import demo content which you can build upon. Once the plugin is installed;

  • Click Elements on the WordPress dashboard;

  • Choose Elementor at the top as your page builder;

  • Browse through the various templates and select a template you would like to import;

  • Give a name to your page (eg: Homepage);

  • Click “Create New Page”

That’s it! You now have a fully-functional WordPress website built from scratch which you own 100%. Please note that this guide serves as a quick intro on working with WordPress and Elementor. It should act as the foundation to further learning and development for your new website.
